Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, Germany on March 14, 1879, to Jewish parents and spent his youth in Munich. His father, Herman Einstein, sold feathers used in the pillow industry. His mother, Ne Pauline Koch, worked with him in the management of a small electrical appliance workshop after he abandoned the feather profession. Einstein was late in his speech until he was three years old, but he showed great passion for nature, the ability to understand difficult mathematical concepts, he studied Euclidean geometry alone, and despite his Jewishness, Einstein entered a Catholic preparatory school and took lessons in playing the violin. At the age of five, his father gave him a compass, and Einstein realized then that there was a force in space that would influence and move the compass needle.

He was suffering from difficulty in assimilation, perhaps due to his shyness in childhood. Einstein is rumored to have lost the child later on in mathematics, but it is likely that the modification in the assessment of the students' grades at that time raised Einstein's child's retardation and maturation in mathematics. Two of Einstein's uncles adopted his care and supported the child's interest in science in general, providing him with books on science and mathematics.
